"Iris"

A portrait of the Greek Divine Messenger and Goddess of the Rainbow. 

She is shown with her traditional golden wings, and her water vessel, which she uses to fill the clouds, with sea water, so that they will rain, and form her rainbow bridge.

This painting was a gift for my husband's grandmother. I don't often paint landscapes, and so it presented many unfamiliar challenges.
